This weeks Premier Division saw leaders Penlan ‘D’ beat second place Penlan ‘A’ 22-18, Ceri James leading the way winning 9-2. In a close match Carmarthen ‘C’ narrowly defeated Carmarthen ‘B’ 18-17 despite Aled Rhys Howell winning 9-0 for the losers, the match was decided when David Lloyd won the last singles 3-0. Another close encounter saw Penyrheol ‘A’ beat Ammanford ‘A’ 22-18, Steve Wilson and Peter Champion winning the doubles 3-0 to secure the victory, Nigel Stopher winning 9-4 and Mike Rees 9-6 for the losers. Leaders Penlan ‘D’ defeated Penlan ‘C’ 27-14 with Dean Cundy winning 9-2. Penlan ‘B’ beat bottom side Penlan ‘E’ 25-12 with Josh Jenkins winning 9-2 and Luke Lyons 9-4.<br />In Division One Cam/Cabin ‘B’ defeated leaders Ammanford ‘B’ 27-11 with Graham Butler and Martin Evans both winning 9-2 and Gareth Evans 9-4. Penyrheol ‘B’ gained their first victory of the season by defeating Penlan ‘F’ 22-14 thanks to Daniel Moore winning 9-0.<br />Carmarthen ‘D’ defeated Llanelli 27-16 with Alan Griffiths winning 9-3. Cam/Cabin ‘A’ moved into second place after beating Port Talbot ‘A’ 25-15, Doug Smith winning 9-3. <br />In Division Two Penlan ‘L’ defeated the leaders Penlan ‘K’ 26-11, Steven Coope winning 9-1 and Keith Baker 8-4. Carmarthen ‘E’ maintained their challenge by defeating Dillwyn Llewelyn ‘A’ 24-14 with Simon Packer winning 9-2 and Andrew Joules 9-3. <br />Division Three saw Penyrheol ‘D’ narrowly defeat Port Talbot ‘C’ 19-16, the match being decided when Gerald King and Josh Davies won the doubles 3-0. Leaders Penlan ‘M’ beat Friends of the Young Disabled ‘B’ 20-17, Matthew Francis winning 9-2 before teaming up with Peter Langley to win the doubles 3-1 to secure a narrow victory. Ty Gwyn beat Friends of the Young Disabled ‘C’ 25-9 with Selim Aydin and Arun Rai both winning 9-0. Port Talbot ‘D’ defeated Ty Gwyn 26-12 thanks to Kean Pac who won 9-2. Friends of the Young Disabled ‘C’ beat Carmarthen ‘G’ 21-16 despite Joe Rosie winning 9-2 for the losers. Penlan ‘M’ defeated Penyrheol ‘D’ 20-14, Peter Langley winning 9-0.

Dragon Event Cardiff

Dragon Tournament Report 9th January 2011<br />The first dragon of 2011 took place on the 9th January at WIS. Snow, the festive season, and the school holidays all combined to keep entry numbers low.<br />In the under 11 event Harri Langley took first place, Harri has contested previous dragons and has obviously been practising, this time he managed the win from Shelby Short, who was runner up.<br />In the under 13 and under 15 events it was nice to see several new players from Swansea at the dragon. Indeed the top 2 places in both age groups were fought out by Peter Morse and Lawrence John , both of whom play together in the region. The matches were close but Lawrence managed to win both events from Peter who finished runner up.<br />The next dragon will take place on Sunday 6th February, entry forms available on the ttaw website . <br /><br /><br />Final Placings – Dragon Tournament 9th Jan 2011<br />Under 11<br />1. Leaders Penlan ‘D’ defeated Carmarthen ‘B’ 30-2.<br />Third place Penlan ‘A’ beat Penlan ‘B’ 28-9 with Neil Page winning 9-1 and Ceri James 9-2. <br />Carmarthen ‘A’ defeated Carmarthen ‘C’ 25-16 thanks to Sven Severyns winning 9-1.<br />New Division One leaders Ammanford ‘B’ had a mixed week, losing 26-10 to Penlan ‘F’ before defeating Penyrheol ‘B’ 25-18 with Mike Towell winning 9-3. Wales vs England South West

Congratulations to Mathew Francis and Thomas Heydon who have been selected to represent Wales against England South West Region. This will be played at Oakhampton with Jac Jenkins and Callum Evans being part of the 4 man squad. The girls squad consists of Caitlin Williams who has been selected to travel to Turkey for a Euro Kids camp, Soffi Jenkins and Charlotte Slye.<br /><br />Well done to all of them.

Congratulations to Bethan Lewis from Bro Myrddin and Carmarthen table tennis club who has been selected to travel with some of the Welsh Squad to Burton Uxbridge for a 2* tournament. The following day Bethan will then take part in an all girls training camp. Bethan will accompany Charlotte Carey Junior and Cadet Welsh number 1.

There is a tournament coming up ideal for all year 7 players looking for a challenge. It will be held in Tonypandy Community College on February the 19th. Closing date for the event is the 14th of February. The tournament starts at 10am and will roughly finish at 1pm. Leaders Penlan ‘D’ beat Carmarthen ‘C’ 26-13 thanks to Lee Morgan who won 9-3. In another close game Penlan ‘B’ defeated Carmarthen ‘A’ 23-19, Josh Jenkins winning the last game 3-1 to set up the victory, with Craig Henton winning 7-5. Penlan ‘C’ beat Penlan ‘E’ 27-11 with Martin Gunn winning 9-0 and Matt Lancey 9-2. Penlan ‘A’ defeated Penyrheol ‘A’ 30-8 to maintain their challenge to the leaders.<br />A close result in Division One saw Cam/Cabin ‘A’ narrowly defeat Cam/Cabin ‘B’ 21-20, Doug Smith winning 9-3 before teaming up with David Davies in the doubles which they lost 3-2 but gained enough games to secure the victory.
