Selected from West Wales were Harry Langley (Penlan), Thomas Heydon (Penlan), Bethan Lewis (Carmarthen), Tatsuki (Carmarthen) and Niall Owen (Carmarthen). The training camp gave the youngsters a chance not only to train with some of South West Englands finest youngsters but to take part in a full on training camp. The training started at 10am to 12:30pm then 1:15pm to 4pm with breaks inbetween. This was a prefect practice session for the youngsters leading up to the British Primary Schools that take place in Cardiff this weekend (1st of April to the 3rd). Good luck to you! Swansea League

In this weeks Premier Division Carmarthen ‘B’ improved their chances of avoiding relegation by defeating Penlan ‘E’ 27-8, Aled Rhys Howells winning 9-1. Penlan ‘B’ also boosted their chances of avoiding relegation after beating Carmarthen ‘C’ 21-14 with Josh Jenkins winning 9-2. Penyrheol ‘A’ defeated Carmarthen ‘A’ 25-11 thanks to Denis Bromage winning 9-1 and Peter Champion 9-2. Leaders Penlan ‘D’ easily beat Ammanford ‘A’ 30-6 while second place Penlan ‘A’ beat Penlan ‘C’ 26-11 with Ceri James winning 9-0 and Paul Karabadak 9-2. Carmarthen ‘B’ defeated Penlan ‘B’ 24-15 thanks to Aled Rhys Howells winning 9-1. In Division One Cam/Cabin ‘A’ defeated the leaders Ammanford ‘B’ 26-9 with Doug Smith winning 9-0 and Randel Sims 9-2. Carmarthen ‘D’ beat Port Talbot ‘D’ 24-12, Martyn Fenner winning 9-1 and Alan Griffiths 9-3. Division Two has new leaders in the form of Penlan ‘L’ after they defeated Penyrheol ‘C’ 30-4. Third place Carmarthen ‘F’ beat Dillwyn Llewelyn ‘A’ 22-17, the match was decided when Rob Clayton and John Finnemore won the doubles 3-1. Dillwyn Llewelyn ‘B’ secured an impressive 27-3 victory over Penlan ‘J’ with Mary Wilkins and Gaynor Griffiths both winning 9-0. Division Three has new leaders in the form of Port Talbot ‘D’ after they secured two victories, First they defeated Friends of the Young Disabled ‘C’ 22-11 with Kean Pac winning 9-0, they then defeated last weeks leaders Penlan ‘N’ 18-14 thanks to Kean Pac winning 9-0. Penlan ‘M’ narrowly defeated Carmarthen ‘G’ 17-16, the match was decided when Peter Langley and Peter Morse won the doubles 3-0, Peter Langley winning 9-0.

Swansea Closed 2011

The Junior event of the Swansea Closed took place tonight at Morriston Leisure Centre. In the under 11s event Mathew Francis from Penlan club won the event beating Niall Owen from Carmarthen 3-0 in the final. Mathews brother Alex was in the under 13s final playing practice partner Lawrence John also from Penlan. Swansea League

This week saw the Fourth Round of the Tudor Jones Cup take centre stage, of which three of the matches saw the lower placed teams prevail. Dillwyn Llewelyn ‘B’ beat Penlan ‘K’ 11-6 in a closely fought encounter which saw Mary Wilkins lead the way winning 6-0. Third division Ty Gwyn made the most of their handicap to defeat Carmarthen ‘F’ 14-9 with Selim Aydin winning 6-1 and Arun Rai 6-2. The last Premier Division representatives Penlan ‘C’ were beaten 12-7 by Penlan ‘G’, Max Clews winning 6-1, Ben Mora 4-2 and young Alex Francis chipping in with an all important victory. Penlan ‘M’ beat Second Division leaders Carmarthen ‘E’ 13-6, Peter Langley winning 6-0 with able support from Peter Morse and young Matthew Francis. In Division One second place Cam/Cabin ‘A’ beat Carmarthen ‘D’ 26-20 thanks to Doug Smith winning 9-4 and David Davies 9-5. Third place Cam/Cabin ‘B’ maintained their challenge by defeating Penlan ‘H’ 27-10 with Gareth Evans winning 9-0 and Martin Evans 9-2. In Division Three Ty Gwyn maintained their challenge by defeating Friends of the Young Disabled ‘B’ 27-7, Arun Rai winning 9-0 and Selim Aydin 9-3. Carmarthen ‘G’ narrowly defeated Friends of the Young Disabled ‘B’ 21-16, the match was decided when Joe Rosie and Saul Anthony won the doubles 3-0, Chris Donavon winning 9-2 for the losers.

West Wales in Primary Schools!!

Seven West Wales youngsters took part in the trials for the Welsh teams to represent the country at the British Schools in April concluded today in Cardiff. There were 2 groups in each the boys and girls events with the winners of each group playing for positions 1 and 2. The second in each group played for 3 and 4 and so on... Final Placings: Boys 1 Jac Jenkins, 2 Thomas Heyden (Swansea), 3 Matthew Francis (Swansea), 4 Jack Cole, 5 Harry Langley (Swansea), 6 Jamie Walters, 7 Niall Owen (Carmarthen), 8 Tatsuki (Carmarthen), 9 Toby Johnston (Carmarthen), 10 Joseph Roberts Girls 1 Kate Roberts, 2 Faye Evans, 3 Charlotte Slye, 4 Victoria Brookes, 5 Bethan Lewis (Carmarthen), 6 Shelby Short, 7 Bethany Brewer, 8 Abbie Price With these results, the selection committee will inform players shortly of picked teams Well done to all kids and good luck in the selection!!
