Junior Team Championship of Wales

<span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">Carmarthen</span> secured 3rd position in division 3 of the junior team championship of Wales. George <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-error">Powis</span> having a 100% record not losing a match. Some great performances from Nathan <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_2" class="blsp-spelling-error">Perrin</span>, Paul Joules, Niall Owen and <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_3" class="blsp-spelling-error">Bethan</span> Lewis. It was all on the last weekend in North Wales where a win over <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_4" class="blsp-spelling-error">Pontypridd</span> High could have won us the league. <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_5" class="blsp-spelling-error">Pontypridd</span> High went on to win the match and the league with Newport in 2<span id="SPELLING_ERROR_6" class="blsp-spelling-error">nd</span> position.

Greenhouse Beginner Tournament

The first beginner/year 7 tournament at the Greenhouse Super Series turned out to be a huge success with players entering from Cathays, Carmarthen, Pontypridd, Tonypandy, Tonyrefail and Whitchurch. Today proved how much talent there is in Wales and what we can look forward to in the future.<br /><br />In the top group was Ben Evans (Tonyrefail) who beat Connor Priest (Pontypridd) in a fantastic 3-1 battle with lots of rallies and exciting shots for the spectators. Alisdair Weir and Huw Standen also did extremely well to make the top group and finished 3rd and 4th respectively.<br /><br /><br />The finals positions are as follows:<br /><br />1. In this weeks Premier Division Penyrheol ‘A’ secured a 22-14 victory over third place Penlan ‘C’ despite Martin Gunn winning 9-2 for the losers. Leaders Penlan ‘D’ beat Carmarthen ‘A’ 27-8 with Dean Cundy winning 9-0 and Scott Cundy 9-2. Carmarthen ‘C’ defeated Penlan ‘E’ 28-10 with David Lloyd winning 9-1 and Alan Griffiths 9-3.<br />In Division One Llanelli and Friends of the Young Disabled ‘A’ fought out an exciting 18-18 draw, Adam Morgan and Micky Cullen winning the final doubles match 3-0 to level the scores, Adam Morgan had match figures of 9-0. Congratulations to Port Talbot ‘A’ who gained their first victory of the season when narrowly defeating Penlan ‘F’ by 21-20, the match was decided when Bill Haddon and Kean Pac won the doubles 3-2 securing victory for Port Talbot, Tony Holt winning 9-3 for the losers. Carmarthen ‘D’ beat Penyrheol ‘B’ 20-17 despite Daniel Moore winning 9-2 for the losers. Cam/Cabin moved into second place after defeating Penlan ‘H’ 30-6. <br />Division Two leaders Carmarthen ‘E’ beat Penlan ‘K’ 24-11, Andrew Joules leading the way winning 9-3. Dillwyn Llewelyn ‘A’ kept up the pressure on the top teams after defeating Penyrheol ‘C’ 23-16 with Nick Couling winning 8-3, Sam Childs winning 9-4 for the losers, Dillwyn then defeated Penlan ‘J’ 23-12 with Nick Couling winning 9-0.<br />Penlan ‘L’ secured a narrow 23-20 victory over Penyrheol ‘C’ thanks to Stephen Coope who won 9-4. The closest match of the week saw Dillwyn Llewelyn ‘B’ and Jerusalem Baptist Church fight out an exciting 19-19 draw, Mary Wilkins and Gaynor Griffiths winning the doubles 3-2 to secure the draw for Dillwyn, Jeff Wood winning 9-2 for Jerusalem. <br />Division Three leaders Penlan ‘N’ gained a comfortable 30-2 victory over Port Talbot ‘C’.

This weeks Premier Division saw Penyrheol ‘A’ narrowly defeat Carmarthen ‘B’ 20-18, the match was settled when Paul Booth won the last game 3-2 which gave him match figures of 9-3.<br />Leaders Penlan ‘D’ beat Penlan ‘B’ 28-7 with Lee Morgan winning 9-0 and Dean Cundy 9-2. <br />Second place Penlan ‘A’ defeated bottom side Penlan ‘E’ 27-4 with Paul Karabadak and Ceri James both winning 9-0. Third place Penlan ‘C’ beat Carmarthen ‘C’ 22-17 thanks to Martin Gunn winning 9-0. Ammanford ‘A’ defeated Carmarthen ‘A’ 29-7 with Mike Rees winning <br />9-0 and Colin Rees 9-4. <br />First Division leaders Ammanford ‘B’ beat Port Talbot ‘B’ 25-15 with Syd Bryce winning 9-0.<br />Carmarthen ‘D’ defeated Penlan ‘F’ 26-8, Martyn Fenner winning 9-0. Cam/Cabin ‘A’ secured a narrow 20-17 victory over Llanelli thanks to Doug Smith winning 9-1.<br />Division Two has new leaders in the form of Carmarthen ‘E’ after they recorded two narrow victories, first they beat Port Talbot ‘B’ 20-18 thanks to Andrew Joules and Simon Packer who both won 7-4, Carmarthen ‘E’ then narrowly defeated Penlan ‘L’ 20-19, the match was decided when Andrew Joules and Simon Packer won the doubles 3-2 taking the last game to deuce, Andrew Joules having match figures of 9-1. In another close match Port Talbot ‘B’ defeated Jerusalem Baptist Church 19-18, the match being decided when David Henry and Carl Miles won the doubles 3-2. Penlan ‘L’ beat Jerusalem Baptist Church 24-13 with Stephen Coope winning <br />9-0. Penlan ‘K’ secured a narrow 22-19 victory over Dillwyn Llewelyn ‘B’, again the match was decided when John Davies and Liam Ford won the doubles 3-2, John Davies winning 9-4. <br />In Division Three Penlan ‘N’ moved to the top of the table after defeating Carmarthen ‘G’ 30-3. Ty Gwyn beat Penyrheol ‘D’ 25-10 with Selim Aiden and Arun Rai both winning 9-1. Ty Gwyn also defeated Penlan ‘N 22-14 with Arun Rai winning 9-2. Penyrheol ‘D’ defeated Friends of the Young Disabled ‘B’ 24-16 with Josh Davies winning 8-5 and Gerald King 7-4. This week saw The Tudor Jones Cup take centre stage. The closest match of the round saw Penlan ‘G’ defeat Ammanford ‘B’ 12-11 in a thrilling game which was decided when Jonathon Francis and Ben Mora won the final doubles 2-1, best performance was Syd Bryce winning 6-0 for the losers. Another close match saw Carmarthen ‘E’ beat Penlan ‘N’ 11-9, this match was decided when Paul Joules won the last game 2-0, Simon Packer and Andrew Joules both winning 4-2. Dillwyn Llewelyn ‘B’ secured a narrow 11-7 victory over Port Talbot ‘B’ thanks to Gaynor Griffiths winning 6-1. Penlan ‘K’ beat Carmarthen ‘D’ 15-6 with John Davies winning 6-0, Liam Ford 5-3 and Frank Smallwood 4-3. Penlan ‘M’ made the most of their handicap by defeating Penlan ‘L’ 12-7, Peter Langley winning 6-0.<br />In Division One second place Cam/Cabin ‘A’ suffered a 22-16 defeat at the hands of Penyrheol ‘B’ for who Daniel Moore won 9-3.
