4th ETTU Coaching Conference

The Spanish Federation and ETTU joined their efforts to host 4th ETTU Coaching Conference in Barcelona from 2nd to 4th December.  The list of participants is long and it consists of names of coaches from 11 European countries. In Barcelona will be Aled HOWELLS of Wales, Olcay SALICI of Turkey, Martin OSTERMANN of Luxembourg, Vallot VAINULA of Estonia, Ferenc KARSAI of Austria, LIU Yan Jun also from Austria, Claudio STEFANELLI from San Marino, Marta NOVOTNA from Czech Republic, Nehat CITAKU, Besart DOMANIKU, Besire DOMANIKU, Arsim THACI all of Kosovo, Mats HEDIN, Thomas JOHANSSON, Pernilla ANDERSSON, Annika ORSVALL of Sweden, Miguel FREITAS of Portugal.<br /><br />Ther will be 10 Spanish representatives as well: Oscar GALLEGO, Ramon MAMPEL, David SOLER, Almudena ROLDAN, Daniel VALERO, Steen HANSEN, Miguel JUARBE,  Aitor Puig POZUELO, Miquel Arnau BONFILS, Josep Llopart MARRUGAT.<br /><br />ETTU General Secretary Jeanny DOM, ETTU Youth and Development Manager Lila de SOYSA and Dr. Tanja KAJTNA and will also be present in Barcelona.

Martin Gunn winning 9-1 and Matt Lancey 9-2. Second place Penlan ‘B’ edged

doubles 3-2 to bring Penlan level. Cam Gears ‘B’ easily beat Penlan ‘G’ 30-8
with Randel Sims, Doug Smith and Morgan Sidley all contributing greatly to the

2 WEST WALES CHAMPS AT DRAGON EVENT

A record entry of 61 young players battled in the main hall for the 6 trophies on offer in the second Dragon of the season. The record entry caused a few problems for the organisers who will have to limit entries for the next Dragon to be held on the 18th of December, so get your entries off early to be sure of a place. The atmosphere in the main hall was electric as dragon players shared the hall with day 2 of the Senior Team Championships. Under 11s and Under 15s got under way bright and early at 9am, entries in both event far exceeding those received for the last Dragon. The larger entry brought some shock results as the winners from all 3 events at the last dragon were swept away by the tide of new talent. The under 11s winner was <strong><span style="color: red;">Jake Simeone (Swansea),</span></strong> whilst the runner up was last under 11s champion Joseph Roberts (Cardiff).<br />
<br />
In the Under 15s Jack Fletcher (Bargoed) went one better than last time winning, from runner up Macauley Morgan (Cardiff). 3 of the top finishers in the under 15s have now entered next Sundays Blaenau Gwent Open, and it will be interesting to see the gap between the more established stars and the dragon contenders.<br />
<br />
No sooner had the organisers finalised the under 11 and under 15 placings, when 31 under 13 players stormed the organisers desk to be signed in.<br />
<br />
Again the tide of new talent swept aside the winners of the last under 13 dragon, no fewer than 5 new players finishing above the last under 13 champion. In the end Steffan Griffiths took the win from James Beadle, the end coming at 6.30pm as staff were clearing the hall!<br />
Still, a great day of table tennis for the new players, lots of matches, lots of fun, certificates for all, and trophies for the lucky (but talented) few.<br />

Disability Day

On the 8th of November a Table Tennis Disability Day took part in both Llanelli and Carmarthen. This allowed youngsters from all over Carmarthenshire to take part in table tennis for the very first time. Over 90 youngsters attended the event held by Table Tennis Association Wales in partnership with Carmarthenshire County Council, Sport Wales, Llanelli Table Tennis Club, Carmarthen Table Tennis Club and Wales Disabled Table Tennis Academy run by Head Coach Jim Munkley. Before each session the kids had a taster of how table tennis can be played from Development Coach Aled Howell, European Medallist and GB Squad player Paul Karabardak plus the Academy members from the Welsh Squad. After the quick exhibition everyone got a chance to participate in a number of games set up on a number of tables.  <br />
<br />
A big thank you goes out to everyone who attended and made it a great success. Pictures will be put up shortly.<br />

Burton and Uxbridge 1star

Lydia & Lawrence John played in the Burton & Uxbridge 1star tournament on the 6th of November. Lydia had a very impressive runners up position in the under 11s girl category and finished 3rd behind Imogen Barber the etta no5. Lydia also  managed to take a set off Sophie Jenkins in the Cadets. </div>

first round of the Tudor Jones Cup which produced some exciting matches.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

Penlan ‘N’ used their start to good effect by narrowly defeating Penlan ‘L’
12-10, the match ended in a draw when Shankly Ismail won the last game to give
him match figures of 5-2 along with good support from his team of Lewis Towell
and Bradley Abraham.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">Shankly and Lewis
then produced an impressive display to win the doubles 2-0 to take their side
into the next round. Penlan ‘H’ defeated <st1:place w:st="on">Carmarthen</st1:place>
‘E’ 12-10 in another closely fought match which was decided when Alison Cundy
won the last game 2-0. Penlan ‘G’ narrowly defeated Tata Port Talbot ‘A’ 12-8,
the match was level with two games to play when Tony Holt and Colin Towell both
won their games 2-0. In another close match Ammanford ‘B’ beat Llanelli 13-11,
Syd Bryce winning the last game 2-1 giving him match figures of 6-2. Cam Gears
‘C’ beat a weakened Carmarthen ‘C’ 11-8, but despite playing with a man short
Carmarthen took the match to the last game which Trevor Francis won 2-0 to edge
Penlan into the next round. Third division Penlan ‘M’ secured an excellent 15-5
victory over premier division Penlan ‘A’ with Harry Langley winning 6-1, Peter
Morse 5-2 and Matthew Francis 4-2. Penlan ‘R’ also from division three beat
premier side Penlan ‘E’ 14-8 with Tarrick El-Hosaini winning 5-2, James Lobb
5-3 and Kallum Ramsey 4-3.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

and Andrew James. Penlan ‘B’ over came a large start against them to beat
Penlan ‘S’ 12-4, Paul Karabadak winning 6-1 and Ceri James 4-0. Ammanford ‘A’
defeated <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Jerusalem</st1:placename>
 <st1:placename w:st="on">Baptist</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">Church</st1:placetype></st1:place>
12-5 with Mike Rees and Nigel Stopher both winning 4-1. Blaen-y-Maes ‘A’ beat
premier division Penyrheol ‘A’ 15-5 with Andrew Agnew winning 6-1. Penlan ‘J’
easily defeated Penlan ‘K’ 15-4, Lawrence John winning 6-0. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

exciting 20-20 draw, Scott Cundy and Daniel Moore winning the doubles 3-1 to

James leading the way winning 9-1. Carmarthen ‘B moved into second place after
an impressive 29-12 victory over Penyrheol ‘A’, Jason Peckham winning 9-1 and
David Lloyd 9-3.<o:p></o:p></span><br />
