With the top two teams in the Premier League not playing Penlan ‘C’ took advantage to go top of the league after defeating Penlan ‘B’ 24-17 with Martin Gunn winning 9-1. Ammanford ‘A’ beat Penlan ‘E’ 28-6, Mike Rees and Nigel Stopher both winning 9-1. Penyrheol ‘A’ recorded their first win of the season by defeating Carmarthen ‘C’ 24-14 thanks to Paul Booth winning 9-3. Carmarthen ‘A’ beat Carmarthen ‘B’ 24-17 despite John Finnemore putting in a fine performance winning 7-4 for the losers.<br />In Division One Penlan ‘G’ defeated Cam/Cabin ‘B’ 21-15 to move to the top of the table, Jonathon Francis winning 9-2 and Ben Mora 9-4. The previous leaders Ammanford ‘B’ were beaten 25-7 by Cam/Cabin ‘A’ for who Doug Smith won 9-0. Llanelli defeated Penyrheol ‘B’ 27-7 with Alan Pattle and Steve Davies both winning 9-0. Carmarthen ‘D’ beat Port Talbot ‘A’ 27-11, Martyn Fenner winning 9-1.<br />Division Two has new leaders in the form of Dillwyn Llewelyn ‘A’ after defeating Port Talbot ‘B’ 23-18 despite Carl Miles winning 9-3 for the losers. Penlan ‘J’ narrowly defeated Dillwyn Llewelyn ‘B’ 19-16, the match being decided when Liam Ferro and Michael Johns won the doubles 3-1, Liam Ferro winning 9-0. In this weeks Premier Division Penlan ‘C’ defeated Penyrheol ‘A’ 24-15 thanks to Martin Gunn winning 9-1, keeping his team on the heels of the leaders. Carmarthen ‘B’ beat Penlan ‘B’ 27-11 with Aled Rhys Howell winning 9-0 and Vince Dragone 9-4. Carmarthen ‘C’ defeated Penlan ‘E’ 26-10, Tim Heaps winning 9-0 and David Lloyd 9-2. Leaders Penlan ‘D’ easily defeated Carmarthen ‘A’ 27-8, Dean Cundy winning 9-0 and Scott Cundy 9-3. Second place Penlan ‘A’ beat Ammanford ‘A’ 27-10 with Ceri James winning 9-0 and Paul Karabadak 9-2.<br />Division One leaders Ammanford ‘B’ beat Penlan ‘H’ 27-4 with Mike Towell and Paul Williams both winning 9-0 and Syd Bryce 9-1. Penlan ‘G’ defeated struggling Penyrheol ‘B’ 25-9 with Max Clews winning 9-1. Llanelli moved into third place after defeating Penlan ‘F’ 21-19 despite Tony Holt winning 9-2 for the losers.<br />In Division Two Penlan ‘K’ moved to the top after narrowly defeating Penlan ‘J’ 22-20, the match was decided when John Davies and Liam Ford won the doubles 3-2 which contained three deuce games, John Davies winning 9-2. Carmarthen ‘F’ beat Dillwyn Llewelyn ‘A’ 27-13 with Rob Clayton winning 8-3, Peter Muckleston 8-4 and John Finnemore 8-5. Port Talbot ‘B’ beat Dillwyn Llewelyn ‘B’ 25-10, James Prescott winning 9-1 and Carl Miles 9-2.<br />Division Three has new leaders in the form of Port Talbot ‘C’ who easily defeated Friends of the Young Disabled 30-3. Ty Gwyn beat Carmarthen ‘G’ 24-15 thanks to Selim Aydin winning 9-2. Betty and Paul in the Awards!!!

Betty Gray MBE has been nominated for a number of Life Time Acheivement awards within the last 3 weeks. Following these nominations we have learnt that Betty who is President of the Swansea League and President of the Table Tennis Association of Wales, has reached the final of the: Welsh National Coaches awards, the British National Coaches awards and the Swansea City Coaching Awards.<br /><br />In all of these she is in the running for a Life Time Achievement Award. Obviously, there is no garuntee she will win but it is a great honour for her and all of us that she has been chosen as a finalist in all three events.<br /><br />We wish her the very best of luck at all the events which are listed below:<br />November 24th - Welsh National Awards - Welsh Institute of Sport, Cardiff - midday event<br />November 30th - British National Awards - The Brewery Conference Centre, London - evening event<br />December 3rd - Swansea City Awards - The Brangwyn Hall, Swansea - evening event.<br /><br />Huge congratulations also has to go to Paul Karabardak for being nominated for Sports Man of the Year in the Swansea City Awards. <br /><br />Good luck to both!!!!

This weeks Premier Division saw Ammanford ‘A’ narrowly defeat Carmarthen ‘A’, Nigel Stopher setting up the victory winning 9-0. Leaders Penlan ‘D’ beat Penlan ‘B’ 29-8 with <br />Lee Morgan winning 9-0 and Dean Cundy 9-2. Second place Penlan ‘A’ moved closer to the leaders by beating Penlan ‘E’ 30-4. Penlan ‘C’ defeated Carmarthen ‘C’ 24-15 thanks to Martin Gunn who won 9-2. Carmarthen ‘B’ beat Penyrheol ‘A’ 20-14, Aled Rhys Howell winning 9-0.<br />In Division One Ammanford ‘B’ went to the top of the table by defeating Llanelli 28-8 with Nigel Stopher winning 9-1 and Peter Wade 9-2. Swansea League Week 1!

This week saw the start of the Premier Division where the current champions Penlan ‘A’ got off to a winning start defeating Carmarthen ‘C’ 25-8 thanks to Ceri James winning 9-0. Penlan ‘D’ beat Penyrheol ‘A’ 27-4 with Lee Morgan winning 9-0 and Scott Cundy 9-1. Newly promoted Carmarthen ‘A’ started well by defeating Penlan ‘E’ 26-12, Sven Severyns and Jeff Parsons both winning 9-2. Penlan ‘C’ narrowly beat Carmarthen ‘B’ 23-17 with Martin Gunn leading the way winning 9-1. Closest math of the week saw Penlan ‘B’ gain a 21-20 victory over Ammanford ‘A’with Josh Jenkins winning 9-3, the match was settled when Josh Jenkins and Luke Lyons won the doubles 3-2, Ammanfords Nigel Stopher winning 8-5.<br /><br />Division One leaders Penlan ‘G’ maintained their impressive start to the season by defeating second placed Ammanford ‘B’ 24-13 for who Nigel Stopher won 8-5. Cam/Cabin ‘B’ remain unbeaten after beating Penlan ‘F’ 28-9 with Graham Butler winning 9-2 and Martin Jenkins 9-3. Carmarthen ‘D’ maintained their challenge with a 25-12 victory over Penyrheol ‘B’, Martyn Fenner winning 9-1 and Rob Wilkins 9-2. Llanelli narrowly defeated Friends of the Young Disabled ‘A’ 22-20 thanks to Alan Pattle and Derek Summers winning the doubles 3-0, Michael Cullen winning 8-3 for the losers. Penlan ‘F’ defeated Port Talbot ‘A’ 27-12 with Tony Holt winning 9-0. <br /><br />Division Two leaders Penlan ‘K’ surrendered their unbeaten record losing 19-16 to Carmarthen ‘E’, Simon Packer winning 9-4, the match was decided when Simon Packer and Andrew Joules won the doubles 3-0. Carmarthen ‘F’ beat Penyrheol ‘C’ 27-13 with John Finnemore winning 9-2. Port Talbot ‘B’ beat Penlan ‘J’ 26-10, Tammy Jones winning 9-3. <br /><br />Division Three leaders Penlan ‘N’ beat Port Talbot ‘C’ 23-14, Jonathan Evans winning 9-3 for the losers. Penyrheol ‘D’ moved into second place after defeating Friends of the Young Disabled ‘C’ 23-13, Andrew Agnew winning 9-3 for the losers.
