Premier Division Ammanford ‘A’ narrowly defeated Cam Gears ‘A’ 22-19, the match
was decided when Mike Rees and Nigel Stopher won the doubles 3-1 to secure the
victory, Mike Rees also won 9-2. Leaders Penlan ‘D’ beat Penlan ‘C’ 29-7 with
Martin Gunn winning 9-1 and Matt Lancey 9-2. Second place Penlan ‘B’ edged
closer to the leaders after easily defeating Carmarthen
‘A’ 30-1. Penlan ‘A’ beat a weakened Penyrheol ‘A’ 30-4.
In Division One
Penlan ‘F’ and Ammanford ‘B’ fought out an exciting 20-20 draw, Syd Bryce
winning 9-1 for Ammanford before Andy Coughlan and Peter Andrews won the
doubles 3-2 to bring Penlan level. Cam Gears ‘B’ easily beat Penlan ‘G’ 30-8
with Randel Sims, Doug Smith and Morgan Sidley all contributing greatly to the
victory.
Division Two leaders
Dillwyn Llewelyn struggled to beat Penlan ‘K’ 20-17 the match being decided
when Andrew James and Dave Archer won the doubles 3-2, John Davies winning 9-1
for the losers. Second place Cam Gears ‘C’ beat Tata Port Talbot ‘A’ 23-14 with
Trevor Francis winning 9-1. Tata Port Talbot ‘B’ maintained the pressure on the
top two by defeating Dillwyn Llewelyn ‘B’ 23-15, Kean Pak winning 9-3, Bruce
Wen 6-4 with But Wong giving good back up.
New leaders of
Division Three are Penlan ‘M’ after they beat Penlan ‘P’ 27-7 with Matthew
Francis winning 9-1. Penlan ‘N’ moved into second place by defeating
Blaen-y-Maes ‘B’ 26-10, Shankley Ismail and Lewis Towell winning all their games.
Blaen-y-Maes ‘A’ beat Penlan ‘R’ 28-8 with Andrew Agnew winning 9-1 and Tony
Averis 9-2.
