This week saw the
first round of the Tudor Jones Cup which produced some exciting matches.
The youngsters of
Penlan ‘N’ used their start to good effect by narrowly defeating Penlan ‘L’
12-10, the match ended in a draw when Shankly Ismail won the last game to give
him match figures of 5-2 along with good support from his team of Lewis Towell
and Bradley Abraham.

then produced an impressive display to win the doubles 2-0 to take their side
into the next round. Penlan ‘H’ defeated Carmarthen
‘E’ 12-10 in another closely fought match which was decided when Alison Cundy
won the last game 2-0. Penlan ‘G’ narrowly defeated Tata Port Talbot ‘A’ 12-8,
the match was level with two games to play when Tony Holt and Colin Towell both
won their games 2-0. In another close match Ammanford ‘B’ beat Llanelli 13-11,
Syd Bryce winning the last game 2-1 giving him match figures of 6-2. Cam Gears
‘C’ beat a weakened Carmarthen ‘C’ 11-8, but despite playing with a man short
Carmarthen took the match to the last game which Trevor Francis won 2-0 to edge
Penlan into the next round. Third division Penlan ‘M’ secured an excellent 15-5
victory over premier division Penlan ‘A’ with Harry Langley winning 6-1, Peter
Morse 5-2 and Matthew Francis 4-2. Penlan ‘R’ also from division three beat
premier side Penlan ‘E’ 14-8 with Tarrick El-Hosaini winning 5-2, James Lobb
5-3 and Kallum Ramsey 4-3.
Another division three
side Penlan ‘P’ defeated Dillwyn Llewelyn ‘B’ 13-7, Adam Walters leading the
way winning 6-3 with David John winning 5-2 and Bradley Huxtable 2-2.
Dillwyn Llewelyn ‘A’
narrowly defeated Carmarthen ‘D’ 12-9, the match being decided when Dave Archer
won the last game 2-1 giving him match figures of 4-3 along with Nick Couling
and Andrew James. Penlan ‘B’ over came a large start against them to beat
Penlan ‘S’ 12-4, Paul Karabadak winning 6-1 and Ceri James 4-0. Ammanford ‘A’
defeated Jerusalem
Baptist Church
12-5 with Mike Rees and Nigel Stopher both winning 4-1. Blaen-y-Maes ‘A’ beat
premier division Penyrheol ‘A’ 15-5 with Andrew Agnew winning 6-1. Penlan ‘J’
easily defeated Penlan ‘K’ 15-4, Lawrence John winning 6-0.
In the Premier
Division Penlan ‘D’ went top after beating Penlan ‘E’ 27-6 with Matt Lancey
winning 9-1 and Martin Gunn 9-2. Penlan ‘A’ and Ammanford ‘A’ fought out an
exciting 20-20 draw, Scott Cundy and Daniel Moore winning the doubles 3-1 to
bring Penlan level.
Division Three has
new leaders in the form of Penlan ‘M’ after they defeated Penlan ‘S’ 20-16 with
Matthew Francis and Peter Morse winning the doubles 3-2 to secure victory,
Matthew Rees winning 9-0 for the losers.
